Quality cabinet products are certified by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) Cabinet Certification Program and meet or exceed the American National Standards Institute, ANSI 161.1 standards established for kitchen cabinets.
Cabinet certification tests include loading all cabinet shelves with 15 pounds per square foot (73.3 kilograms per square meter) for a specified period of time. The time weighted loading is followed by an examination of the shelves and the joining of the cabinet for any evidence of movement or structural failure.
