Cleaning kitchen cabinet handles isn't exactly the most fun job out there but it's a quick way to spruce up the kitchen. It is also something vital that you do as cleaning cabinet handles is important to reduce the risk of any bacteria in your kitchen. So for that reason you'll want to use an antibacterial cleaner such as bleach.
There are a couple ways to get the job done. So how do you clean kitchen cabinet handles? Let's start with the easy way to clean first.
You'll need a couple different tools to make sure everything is clean, a scrub pad, a sponge, and a small old toothbrush.
Use the brush and scrub around any hard to reach places. Pay particular attention to where the handle screws into the cabinet and the sides around it. Be careful though not to mar the cabinet finish.
For really hard to reach places such as ornate handles use a couple toothpicks to dig out any built up gunk
Next use the scrub pad to scour off anything caked onto the cabinet handle itself. Make sure to scrub gently just like on the cabinet itself. You don't want to mess up the finish on the handles.
Now just sponge on some more cleaner and let it sit a few minutes to sterilize the handle. That's all there is to the easy way of cleaning up.
If you're feeling particularly ambitious you'll want to remove the cabinet handles entirely and give them a good soaking.
Grab a screw driver and remove the door hardware. Toss the screws and handles into a pot of weak bleach solution. Don't use your sink for this. You could end up losing screws down the drain.
Let everything soak for a few minutes to loosen up any caked on dirt.
Grab the old toothbrush and start scrubbing those handles.
Grab the toothpicks and run them through the screw holes and any other hard to clean spots.
Now just rinse everything off and set aside.
As long as you have the handles off the door use the scrub pad and sponge to clean up the cabinets.
You might as well get the area behind the handles clean as long as you've gone to this much effort.
Just like with the easy clean option make sure you don't scratch up the cabinet doors as you're cleaning them.
Wait until the hardware is dry then grab the screwdriver and reattach the handles to the cabinets.
One of the added benefits of doing the deep clean is this gives you a chance to tighten up any loose hardware when you put it back together.
It's amazing what a little bit of cleaning will do for the kitchen. By spending a few minutes or even a few hours scrubbing everything down you can revitalize your cabinet handles as well as get them sparkly clean and sanitized. How do you clean kitchen cabinet hardware without wasting the entire day? Just follow these few simple steps and you'll have a nice clean kitchen in no time.
